PRHA Herbal Medicine Education 

Working with medicinal plants has always been part of humanity’s shared journey. Across cultures and generations, people have turned to the plant world for nourishment, balance, and support. At Plant Rhythms Herbal Academy, we see herbal education as a way of renewing that relationship in a grounded and practical modern context.

Learning how to work with herbs and native plants re educates us to the rhythms of nature and provides meaningful tools to support our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others. Our intention is to guide students into this work through a balance of structured teaching, hands-on experience, and personal integration.

The herbal medicine courses at PRHA are led by experienced and dedicated medical health practitioners who have spent many years working closely with people and healing plants.

The Certificate in Herbal Medicine is comprised mostly of immersive, and some distance learning, using a variety of platforms including texts, take home materials, and experiential lessons. This means that apart from the scheduled 4 x three day weekeend workshops, you can study at your own pace, with whatever else you have going on in your ife.

The Certificate is an in depth introduction that covers a great deal of ground. It is an essential first step towards our Diploma program - and also certainly can be taken as a stand alone course in learning herbal medicine or becoming a medical herbalist.

The NZ Native Tree and Wild Plant Shamanic Herbal Apprenticeship forms the core foundation of the Certificate pathway.

This herbal medicine Certificate pathway is well suited to the person who wishes to help themselves, family, friends and community with herbal healing. With a focus on working

safely and confidently with herbal medicine, the Certificate course is a comprehensive foundation, either on its own or as the first stage in our Diploma program.

For those progressing further, the specialist Herbal Diploma in Biofield Therapies offers a deeper professional pathway. Through advanced coursework, case studies, and guided feedback, students strengthen their ability to apply Plant Rhythms principles in real world settings. This comprehensive course provides students with a calling to become a traditional medical herbalist with tremendous knowledge of how to use, prepare and dispense medicinal herbs and trees with added knowledge and expertise in guiding people in the areas of nutirition, lifestyle and mind-body-spirit health, diagnosis and hands- on treatment.

Subsequent to establishing and gaining an excellent foundation in completing a Certificate in Herbal Medicine, our Diploma students 

further their learning journey in markedly further depth, which encompasses one-to-one mentoring in order to help students develop the skills, wisdom and knowledge needed to become 

a good medical herbalist.

At the heart of our herbal medicine education is a simple principle. Effective herbal practice is measured by the ability to support genuine positive outcomes for the people and communities we serve.

Our role is to help students develop the knowledge, confidence, and lived experience required to work safely, respectfully and ethically with the living intelligence of people and plants.
